Cedar Park History
Cedar Park was originally inhabited by several Native American tribes, including
the Lipan Apache, the Comanche and the Tonkawa. The European settlers first arrived
in this area in the 1800s. An American archaeological site was discovered in the
city in 1983, proving that Cedar Park was continuously inhabited since 5000 BC. The
city was known as Running Brushy in the mid 1800s. The Austin and Northwest
Railroad first entered the city in 1882. The city adopted its present name sometime
around 1887. Cedar Park was incorporated in 1973.
